Major sitework and roadways project for the new secure entrance to the Federal Complex on the Old Navy Base. This site is on particularly poor soils, partially located on an old landfill, and at low elevation adjacent to the Cooper River. Soil quality and water table are constant concerns to overcome on this project. The project makes use of lightweight fill to lessen the load on the soils. All the lightweight fill material came on one container ship from Greece at the beginning of the project. The project also has a main Visitor Center (badging office), Commercial Entrance and truck inspection, and main entrance canopy and access control point. The traffic security items on the project are all K-12 rated. The buildings all incorporate bullet resistant glass and composite panels.
